I need some city scape shots from like a drone or helicopter and some random crowd shots, preferably in a city but if I can crop around a small town or soemthing that would work too. Anyone know where I can find stuff like this?
GOOD QUALITY ONLY PLEASE.
No idea! Uhhh @JasonRyan @hermdelica @movieguyjon ?
I asked my editor co-worker and he mentioned https://videos.pexels.com/ as a good place to start. It’s done by people who just want to share their work so there aren’t really any rights things to worry about. Personally, I haven’t looked through it but on first blush it seems pretty cool to me.
thnx. this is great. Know a good audio library that isn’t YouTube?
For sound effects or music? If music, I’m a big fan of BenSound.com
sound fx. I know about bensound already
I tend not to use literally free footage as I’ve found you get what you pay for a lot of times.
Pond5 has some relatively affordable royalty-free footage, and they have a price filter in their search engine too, which makes it easier.
are there ANY free ones, though? My budget is -$$ so even cheap isn’t gonna work. IF you have sound fx library recs too that would be good
Maybe see if any of your friends who live in high-rises have access to the roof and go up with your camera? It’s not as good as a drone shot, but it’ll be free and you’ll have an easier time matching the footage if it’s done with the same camera.
check out videvo https://www.videvo.net/
Sound effects are easy to find and use. https://freesound.org/ just make sure that you read through what you want to use and know what rights you have to it. Some require that you give credit, some require that it is not used for a commercial purpose, while others are free to use.
If you’re a low/no budget show, why make an expensive shot you can’t afford your hurdle. Just fake it or show a picture of a cityscape and get to what you can do with people. Don’t let that stuff matter or give it power over your show. It doesn’t matter.
