Gonna take a little time and formulate thoughts, but immediately:
We use vimeo at work for sharing video edits with clients, and it’s perfect for that considering work pays for a tier with a higher upload allotment. The free version of vimeo is huge pain if you have a series or if you screw up an upload, and I can’t watch vimeo content on my tv without grabbing a roku device, so I never scour vimeo for content to actually watch. They also instituted a change where replacing an already uploaded video STILL COUNTS against your upload allotment, so the 500mb free a week means you upload everything early over a long span of time before you release and if you make a mistake you have to wait a week to re-upload if you’re at your allotment. And just to give you an idea of file sizes:
A 2-3 minute video with h.264 compression with a highly reduced bitrate will put you down about 100+mb. If you cancel that upload because of a goof halfway through the upload you’re out 50mb. If you have to re-upload to fix a change, you’re down an extra 100mb for the same video you uploaded once.
I like the idea behind vimeo somewhat, but it’s not a good fit for me for anything I wish to create.
I’ll have more later.
