V Morgan is Dead follows a 20-something woman who starts off the series, well, dead. Of a brain aneurism, to be exact. V is given a second chance at life on the Sixth Floor, the series’ idea of an afterlife. And, as V describes it, “it’s like an apple store had sex with the Matrix,” which isn’t too far from the truth about its decor.
Given a choice between remaining dead, or sign a contract to work for the Sixth Floor and continue to live, V chooses to return to her life, albeit with a new occupation. As a so-called “fixer”, V’s job is to guide people towards missed connections so they can follow their life path. Her new colleagues, Andrew and Jenna, as well as her boss Benson, guide her in her first two assignments, but her third, and first solo assignment starts to go awry.
It’s hard to say any more without spoiling the series, but V’s assignment takes a turn for the worse pretty quickly. It’s obvious that there’s more to the Sixth Floor than what we know. It’s a thoughtful series which makes use of its few camera angles and sets in a unique way through security cameras/tapes, and is a generally intriguing and thrilling watch that’s also aesthetically pleasing. If you’re a fan of thrill rides, and mysteries, V Morgan is Dead is definitely worth a watch.
Content warnings are here because they’re very obvious: death (duh), mild violence.
