What are your creative goals for January and 2018?

(Bri Castellini) #1

Let’s keep each other accountable again! (and congrats to all the December goal-keepers!)

What are your creative goals for this month?

Mine are:

  • Film my short horror film “Buy In”
  • Prep promotion for the YouTube release of my new web series Sam and Pat Are Depressed (season finale on Seeka at the end of this month!)
  • Make a new producer reel
  • Close-caption three more Brains episodes
  • Get 20 unique posts on this thread

And for the new year in general, here’s my 2018 resolutions!

I finished a first draft script for Season 4 of The Spell Tutor over the holidays, so I need to get into the revising process to get it ready for a table read.

I’ve decided this will be the final season for the show, so this season is kind of epic and over-the-top compared to previous seasons. We’re going out with a bang!

Let’s start this new year!

  • The Watch-A-Thon of Rassilon: Upload Invasion of the Dinosaurs.
  • WoR: Make/Queue Gifs, Edit, and Upload Death to the Daleks.
  • WoR: Watch and Record The Monster of Peladon.
  • Edit what I have filmed of My Two Clones.
  • Road Trippy: Write a chapter. (This actually depends on if someone else writes their chapter first. coughchrischerrycough)

(Blair Hunter) #4

  • Flesh out concept for new script
  • Make one-sheet for my old script as practice (and wishful thinking!)
  • Catch up on reading scripts for friends

  • Build out my team! Meet more people!
  • Say yes to more events like fest and screenings

Nice!! Do you know what your next project is gonna be yet, or are you taking it one step at a time?

really digging sam and pat so far, bri, just fyi. welcome back, all.

my goals for this month:

  • continue giving myself a break and don’t stress myself out by putting too many things on my plate at a time
  • figure out lighting looks with the dp on an upcoming project
  • write something every other day at least. even if it’s short

(Bri Castellini) #9

Welcome back, Sam! And thank you! And good luck! Excite excite all around

(Herman Wang) #10

The idea behind The Spell Tutor was to get some experience and make contacts and it’s served those purposes very well.

The downside is that we can’t turn a profit on it because it’s based on Harry Potter. So my next project will be original. Beyond that, I’ll haven’t given it much thought. It’ll be a different experience for me without the pre-built audience to market to.

Cash in the $10K cheque I wrote myself out for in December…I’m trying that whole visual manifestation technique these days.

(Jonathan Hardesty) #12

Okay, let’s see if I can come up with some reachable goals this month:

:black_square_button: Lock Flagon 201 Script.

:black_square_button: Write Flagon 202.

:black_square_button: Remaster Flagon 102.

:black_square_button: Automate almost 100% of Flagon social media so I only have to think about it every other month or so.

:black_square_button: Be on FB/Twitter less.

  • Identify companies and people I’d like to work with & start reaching out to them
  • Finish first draft of TV pilot so I can revise it in time for labs/fellowship apps
  • Have production plan to shoot short film this spring
  • Finish Keep Me Posted trailer & press kit

2018 (These are a bit vague because I’m planning to re-evaluate after Q1, but):

  • Get paid for something I write, direct, or produce
  • Write at least 2 pilots and one short
  • Film at least 2 shorts & something (teaser? pilot?) for my next web series

(Bri Castellini) #15

OoooOOOoooo new web series??

(Hillary Nussbaum) #16

Yes! Sort of…I had a treatment and concept, but the more I work on it, the more it’s asking to be a TV series (longer episodes than I can reasonably fund/produce), so we’ll see. I’m hoping that I can at least film the pilot, because I really want to make it!

(Meg Carroway) #17

Yay everyone’s back! January:

  • Participate in more than just AMAs here on the forum
  • Make marketing plan for an upcoming project
  • Hire a new DP

  • Have a great year!!!

(Bri Castellini) #18
